A Double Bateson Book Launch!
On the same day, in the same room, two generations of Batesons release new books.
Belly · by Nora Bateson
Written from the belly.
Belly: Nora brings the topic of infinite orders of change into the intimate world of intergenerational learning from the belly that has been tending and digesting all along: through the kitchen and shared meals, the birth room, the deathbed, the grief, the art that arrives unannounced, the parenting, the ceremonies and celebrations, the unsticking of habits of perception, the recognition of the among-ing of all life.
An Ecology of Mind: The Course · Gregory Bateson
Compiled and edited by Phillip Guddemi
Gregory from the classroom to the page.
In 1976, Gregory Bateson taught a course called An Ecology of Mind. For nearly fifty years, the recordings of that course sat in the archive, unpublished and unheard by most, even while the ideas continued. Compiled and edited by Phillip Guddemi from the transcripts of recorded lectures, this 465-page volume breathes the course into new form and onto the page: Gregory in conversation and mid-thought, telling stories, circling questions from many angles. A new entry point into learning to think ecologically.
Join us for this epic celebration of readings, conversation, recorded archives and discussion of over 150 years of intergenerational expression of ecological inquiry.
Plus, book signing (of course).
Meet Nora Bateson and Phillip Guddemi as well as the Belly team: editor, layout designer, and artist Leslie Thulin Eubanks, artist Rachel Hentsch, artist Vivien Leung, and publisher Andrew Carey of Triarchy Press.
